Finca La Guadalupe was founded over 80 years ago by Don Selin Recinos Sr in La Labor, Ocotepeque, Honduras. Decades later, La Guadalupe still remains in the family, ran by Selin Recinos Jr. as a small-plot wonderland of Catuaí, Pacas, Parainema, Maragogype, Bourbon, and Typica varietals. Selin Jr.’s has a holistic view on production goes beyond coffee, focusing on the preservation and reforestation of Ocotepeque’s existing forests, water sources, and native species to create a safe haven for the region’s biodiversity. On the coffee side, Selin has focused on continuously improving picking practices at the farm and developing an on-site wet mill. Additionally, Selin is part of a 400+ organic cooperative, so he frequently participates in educational programs regarding organic farming practices and has become a prominent figure in the promotion of these practices within the local community.
